The Travelers Assistance Society of Sweetwater County (TASSC) is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that assists stranded travelers in need of food, gasoline, lodging, and/or bus tickets. TASSC is funded by individual donors and businesses and is operated entirely by local community volunteers. Vouchers are provided for those in need for all services that give donors peace of mind, knowing that their dollars will be used for real help, not on drugs, alcohol or tobacco. During 2012, TASSC helped 632 travelers. TASSC responds to requests for assistance from the Rock Springs and Green River Police Departments, the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department, the Sweetwater County Detention Center, and the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.
