Throughout the year the Travelers Assistance Society of Sweetwater County (TASSC) provides support to stranded individuals and families passing through Sweetwater County. After a brief interview with each client, TASSC supplies voucher assistance to travelers. This aid can be used for gas, food, hotel rooms, and bus tickets. No portion of the vouchers can be used for alcohol, cigarettes, or pet food. In the first 10 months of 2016, the agency aided more than 503 people, comprised of 302 individuals and 82 families.
Total donations from Jan. 1 through Oct. 31 were $16,466. Total expenses for the same period were $15,358. Since the agency is a nonprofit corporation, all contributions are tax deductible with receipts mailed to each donor.TASSC extends a special thanks to all those who have donated to help those in need.
Appreciation is also expressed to those who designate TASSC as their donor’s choice on the United Way pledge form. TASSC could not continue without the generous donations of residents. All contributions are tax deductible and a receipt is mailed to each donor. In addition, all TASSC records are open to the public.
